Get your kilts out and your bagpipes ready as it\u2019s time to raise a glass of single malt to Scotland’s most famous son, Robert Burns.<\/p>\n

Even if you\u2019re not Scottish, Burns night<\/a> is an excellent excuse to do something a little bit different and join in the celebration of the life and work of Robert Burns.<\/p>\n

Here are a Burns night activities (or at least activities that Burns would be proud of) that you can do to impress your date\u2026<\/p>\n

Whisky tasting: <\/b>Burns night is celebrated all across the globe so look around your local town or city to find a whisky tasting night.<\/p>\n

Cook a Burns night supper: <\/b>Whilst Scottish food doesn\u2019t have the BEST reputation (deep fried mars bar<\/a>, anyone?) it does have some redeeming factors.<\/p>\n

For the perfect Burns night supper start off with some Cock-a-leekie soup<\/a><\/p>\n

Followed by some Haggis<\/a>, bashed neeps and tatties.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Then round off with a traditional Cranachan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Go see some Scottish Dancers: <\/b>Think that the Irish are energetic dancers? Well, you\u2019ve not seen anything until you\u2019ve seen the Scottish dance. Performing in full costume, Scottish dancers will bring a bit of energy to the celebration.<\/p>\n

Head out for a Burns night supper: <\/b>You may not fancy slaving over a hot stove to produce a Burns night supper so head out to your local pub or restaurant and enjoy it cooked for you.<\/p>\n

Try this haggis burger: <\/b>Who doesn\u2019t love a good burger<\/a>.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re in Scotland<\/b> then the Scottish Tourist board have lots of free activities<\/a> on offer as well as a free ebook on holding your own Burns Supper<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Have a Scottish picnic: <\/b>Why not pack a picnic basket full of Scottish goodies: shortbread, scotch eggs, irn bru etc and head to your nearest local beauty spot. Yes it maybe be cold but wrap up warm and you\u2019ll feel the spirit of Scotland in no time.<\/p>\n

Whatever you\u2019re planning on doing, don\u2019t forget to polish off your vocal chords for a big, loud rendition of Auld Lang Syne at the end of the night.<\/p>\n
