The story of one flawed woman\u2019s mishaps as she searches for love has resonated with millions of women across the globe. So when the author of the Bridget Jones novels said she knows the secret to online dating, single ladies everywhere listened up.<\/p>\n

As part of her research for the newest book in the Jones series,\u00a0Mad About the Boy<\/em>, author\u00a0Helen Fielding set up two online dating profiles<\/a>\u00a0and began an experiment that proved nice girls don\u2019t always finish first in the dating game.<\/p>\n

The first fake profile featured a sensible, sweet, and unassuming book lover wearing modest clothing. The second profile, which Fielding named \u201cSuperLuckyBitch,\u201d showed a photo of a sexy woman whose description portrayed her as \u201ca real bitch.\u201d<\/p>\n

So what happened? The results are not particularly encouraging for nice girls. Fielding said SuperLuckyBitch got all of the replies. Does that mean the secret to online dating is becoming a bitch?<\/p>\n

Before you go losing your sweet demeanor, keep in mind that those men aren\u2019t always the ones you would want to date. Fielding says she did go on a date with one of the men who reached out online, but it didn\u2019t work out.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did see one person but he realized that I was a writer and guessed who I was,\u201d she told an audience in LA. \u201cI went and met him and explained I was doing research and he was very nice about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nice girls don\u2019t fret! Even if Fielding\u2019s results aren\u2019t all that heartwarming, another viewing of\u00a0Bridget Jones\u2019s Diary<\/em>\u00a0should be enough to buoy your spirits. Colin Firth can make anyone believe in love again!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
