Selfie is one of those words that despite not existing 5 years ago we now hear on a daily basis. But whilst you may not be down with sharing your mug on instagram, twitter and Facebook every five minutes, there are times when a good selfie is in order.<\/p>\n

For example your dating profile. You need a good picture and there\u2019s no better person to take it than you.<\/p>\n

But how do you master the art of the perfect selfie? Here\u2019s our handy guide.<\/p>\n

STOP with the pouting.<\/strong> No one finds the \u201cduck face\u201d look attractive so quit it. Flash a lovely smile or a cheeky grin but put those pouts away.<\/p>\n

Use good lighting.<\/strong>\u00a0Photographers everywhere will tell you that the number one secret to a great photograph is good lighting. Now we know you\u2019re not going to be able to get a full studio of lights on the go for a simple self portrait but think about soft sunlight or a cloudy sky to really make you look amazing.<\/p>\n

Use an app. <\/b>Just so you know that this isn\u2019t cheating. We\u2019re not suggesting you go photoshop crazy but just using an app that can fiddle with the lighting, maybe clear up any temporary blemishes you may have can work wonders.<\/p>\n

Stay natural. <\/b>Unless you usually walk about with a full face of make up then don\u2019t use it. Just relax, take a deep breath, smile and be your beautiful self.<\/p>\n

Think about the angle. <\/b>Straight on isn\u2019t the most flattering angle, you\u2019re more likely to look like a prison mugshot than a sex goddess so instead just tilt your camera at a 45 degree angle.<\/p>\n

Have some fun. <\/b>Have a laugh, taking a selfie isn\u2019t a serious portrayal of you so enjoy it. The fact you\u2019re having a bit of fun whilst you\u2019re doing it will shine through on the pictures!<\/p>\n
