Of German descent, but have long since abandoned all allegiance to the Teutons. I grew up in Luxembourg (small, but has a Grand Duke), an early 1990s "grunge" misfit with all the accoutrements and a computer pirate / hacker in the pre-Internet IT stone age. Subsequently returned to the straight and narrow. I now work as a lawyer in the City. Lawyering generally involves forensic analysis of large structures gone wrong (bridges, wind turbines, oil refineries), writing threatening letters and shouting �Objection!� for dramatic effect.

Obligatory list of interests:
Asian food. Dim sum at Yauatacha is a particular favourite. Looking forward to trying "Chinese tapas" at Hunan.
Going out to spots off the beaten track. Clerkenwell, Barnsbury or Old Street over shiny West End clubs any day.
Travelling. After a trip to Japan, this year's destinations have been France, Italy and Spain. Still lots to see in Europe.
Reading - currently End of Faith by Sam Harris and Rashomon (short stories by Ry�nosuke Akutagawa).
Films enjoyed recently: Lives of Others and Assembly.
Music is important. I own every Pearl Jam record, �Betterman� is among the best songs ever written.
Cultured pursuits appeal too, but not pretentious / overly arty art: a Caravaggio painting is an artistic masterpiece but that Tate Modern attraction was not all it was cracked up to be.

Trivia: Once chased by peasants out of a village in Northern Luxembourg, having posed as a fake TV crew. Can do the splits. Lethal with tabl� tennis bat .Cannot drive.

My friends have said this about me: "He's funny", "He's efficient", "Who is he again?".

Whilst I enjoy a bit of daftness / silliness now and then, I can do "serious" too and would be equally happy to debate the usual issues, such as whether Mill's utilitarianism could really work as the foundation of a modern society (okay, I added that bit to make me sound intellectual).
