I gave up the gym three years ago. What's the point spending �40 or more to be indoors when I can now I go out running 4-5 miles every other evening in the fresh air, see parts of the area that I haven't seen before and either play or umpire hockey matches those days that I'm not running? Far better for me and frankly a lot more interesting. updat� time; Oops, I've entered the Birmingham Half Marathon, so now I have an objective for all this pain!!

Thanks to my parents I've got a pretty good grasp of life�s niceties, know my p�s & q�s as well as being au fait with how to hold a door open for someone. I have ticked quite a few coun tries and seen England win the 7s in Hong Kong but there are still so many more places to go and cultures to experience. Wanted to go bungee jumping in Australia but with my accident record and knowledge of A&E my friends dissuaded me. Maybe next time.

I�ll give anything (except fish & offal) a go once, believe that it�s hard to beat live music/concerts; best gig of last year was the Kaiser Chiefs in front of their home crowd at Elland Road, but over the years been to see everyone as diverse as Kylie, the 80s reunion tours and Muse. Would love to tell you that in fact I'm the next John Travolta on the dance floor but the five left feet might be a give away when we actually get there!

Working quite hard to keep a business afloat in these challenging economic times, so the cats aren't the best conversationalists in the evening and can't share a glass of wine with me! Who would like to?

One minor thought; whilst I appreciate that the English language has to evolve - otherwise we would still be speaking Chaucarian English - the number eight has NO place in words including mate/great/late/fate!
